L’Oréal Paris and Vox Media today announced a podcast partnership with world champion athletes Sue Bird and Megan Rapinoe. With a multi-platform campaign that will run across the audio and video versions of their sports and culture show, A Touch More: The Podcast, and include a live event, the partnership is built around L’Oréal Paris and A Touch More’s shared fight for equity, inclusion and women’s empowerment. As part of the campaign, the show, which launched in August with L’Oréal Paris as its sponsor and is now out with its tenth episode, honors women across who are driving social change. They’ll also put a spotlight on the L’Oréal Paris Women of Worth initiative, which is in its 19th year of recognizing female non-profit leaders and driving positive change around some of the nation’s most pressing issues. Several Women of Worth honorees are featured in episodes of the podcast, where they discuss the causes that drive them.
L’Oréal Paris has long championed the power of women using their voices and owning their worth across all facets of life. For almost 20 years, the brand’s signature philanthropic initiative, “Women of Worth,” has recognized extraordinary women making a difference in their communities. Now, through their partnership with the A Touch More podcast, L’Oréal Paris continues its commitment to empowering women in the world of sports. Through the collaboration, the brand aims to amplify the voices of women in sports and celebrate their remarkable achievements, inspiring women and girls everywhere to pursue their passions and defy expectations – because they’re worth it.
“This partnership is driven by our shared mission of empowering women and reinforcing their innate sense of self-worth” says L’Oréal Paris president Ali Goldstein. “Investing in women’s sports is about investing in the future. We’re at a pivotal moment where these incredible athletes are finally getting the recognition they deserve, and L’Oréal Paris is proud to support that exciting evolution.”
“Women’s sports are finally getting some long overdue recognition, but the work is far from over,” say Bird and Rapinoe. “L’Oréal Paris has been an integral partner in helping us launch our show, which we hope will be a platform for women athletes, and a space for open and honest conversations. We are thrilled to work with a brand that is so well-aligned with our overall mission.”
“Our first community focused on women’s sports launched in 2009 on SBNation as the first mass media brand to have a dedicated WNBA channel – before we were even called Vox Media,” said Geoff Schiller, Vox Media’s CRO. “With interest in women’s sports truly catching fire, we’re thrilled to be expanding our coverage by partnering with two icons in Sue and Megan. Given L’Oréal Paris’s ethos, we are beyond excited to see them commit to A Touch More in such a big way.”
A Touch More: The Podcast is part of Vox Media, which is a top 10 podcast publisher and home to the most influential talent across categories including journalist Kara Swisher and entrepreneur Scott Galloway (Pivot), psychotherapist Esther Perel (Where Should We Begin?), research professor Brené Brown (Unlocking Us), former Manhattan U.S. attorney Preet Bharara (Stay Tuned), tech reviewer Marques Brownlee (Waveform: The MKBHD Podcast), personal finance expert Vivian Tu (Networth & Chill), and more.
Vox Media’s partnership with L’Oréal Paris comes on the heels of a period of expansion for the company’s portfolio of sports franchises, which in addition to A Touch More includes podcasts like Not Just Football (hosted by Pittsburgh Steelers team captain and reigning NFL “Man of the Year” Cam Heyward) and What an Experience (hosted by basketball star Lonzo Ball), as well as its editorial brand, SB Nation, which is home to over 300 fan-centric team communities.
