Polygon Unveils Redesign Aimed at Making Its Homepage a Destination for Gaming Culture Consumers

Powered by its migration to WordPress VIP and Vox Media’s front-end platform, Duet, Polygon’s new homepage will unveil new editorial rubrics, with recommendations curated by staff and special guests.

Today Polygon editor-in-chief Chris Plante and publisher Chris Grant unveiled a new homepage redesign. Geared towards making Polygon’s homepage a destination for gaming culture consumers looking for an escape from an increasingly toxic social media landscape, the magazine-inspired layout offers a number of new features, including editorial rubrics with recommendations curated by staff and special guests, integrated sponsorship modules, and more.

“For over a decade, Polygon has produced award-winning original reporting, criticism, guides, and videos for fans of gaming and genre entertainment,” said Polygon editor-in-chief Chris Plante. “I’m thrilled to welcome our readers to a site that’s as helpful and dynamic as the stories we tell.”

Since its founding in 2012, Polygon has served as a thoughtful, safe, and joyful space for writers and readers alike to talk about games, sci-fi, fantasy, horror, and animation. With these once niche interests becoming the mainstream, Polygon serves many of the fastest growing fandoms in media. Earlier this year, the site released a wide-ranging survey on the rise of anime culture in the U.S. and the genre’s popularity with young consumers. It also recently launched a new imprint in partnership with Insight Editions, which will publish an oral history of the Lord of the Rings trilogy as its first title this October.

“This migration rests on Vox Media’s front-end platform, Duet — first seen on The Verge, and then Vox.com — coupled with a new, more flexible backend in WordPress VIP,” says Polygon publisher Chris Grant. “Beyond just a redesign, this new site represents a fundamental shift in our product strategy, and our continued investment and confidence in websites and loyal audiences.”

Powered by its migration to WordPress VIP and Vox Media’s front end platform, Duet, Polygon will continue to build out its homepage and website, with new community tools aimed at boosting user experience to follow the redesign.
