Eater, the preeminent destination for food and restaurant coverage, announced the return of Eater Under Wraps, a two-day immersive, interactive holiday shopping and tasting experience. Taking place on Saturday, December 13, and Sunday, December 14, at the Soho Lofts at 477 Broadway, Eater Under Wraps will offer guests an editorially curated holiday market with giftable items from beloved brands and niche artisans, along with buzzy local tastings and pop-ups – from festive drinks and unique bites to a rotating spread of holiday treats. Rooted in nostalgia, Eater Under Wraps will celebrate the holiday classics and traditions we remember, with fun, modern twists and editor-approved gifts for everyone on your list.
“With Under Wraps, we’re bringing the holiday spirit to life with an immersive shopping experience in the heart of New York City,” said Stephanie Wu, Eater’s Editor-in-Chief. “Shoppers will be transported into an interactive world featuring gifts we love, bar takeovers from some of our favorite New York City spots, and hands-on festive activities, with plenty of fun surprises along the way.”
In true Eater style, guests will enjoy complimentary tastings from New York City’s buzziest restaurants including Thai food from Mommy Pai’s and matcha drinks from Kijitora. In addition, at the reservation-only cocktail lounge, Bar Kabawa and Bar Snack will be serving exclusive holiday versions of their acclaimed drinks and snacks.
This year’s Under Wraps event is officially sponsored by DoorDash, Pepsi, and Shout, giving guests the ultimate opportunity to create festive memories. The larger than life “DoorDash Concierge” holiday calendar will be filled with prizes from discounts to shop the holiday market to coveted restaurant reservations to enjoy during the holiday season. For a refreshing, sweet treat, guests can head to Pepsi’s Dirty Soda Bar to enjoy beverages crafted with Pepsi Wild Cherry & Cream. Over at Shout’s chocolate-dipping workshop, chef Natasha Pickowicz will lead a playful confectionery class where ‘stainxiety’—that inner dread of drips or splashes— turns into festive fun. Enjoy drizzling chocolate over your favorite snacks and snap a carefree pic in the ‘Mess Happens’ photo booth, because the best way to handle potential stains is to just breathe and grab a Shout wipe!
“Eater’s investment in creating experiential moments allows us to connect with its loyal audience in real life,” said Geoff Schiller, Vox Media’s chief revenue officer. “After such an enthusiastic response last year, we’re thrilled to have Under Wraps return, with the help of our brand partners, to celebrate the holiday season with the Eater community.”
Additional partners include Diageo, the global leader in premium spirits, offering specialty tastings of The Cocktail Collection and showcasing accompanying tablescape kits from its Hestia Harlow x The Cocktail Collection. Kahlúa will offer guests samples of the new Kahlúa Dunkin’ Caramel Swirl Cream Liqueur. Dockers will outfit event staff and will also have an embroidery station offering personalized Dockers bucket hats and caps: the perfect present to keep for themselves or gift to the stylist food lover on their list. Verizon rounds out the lineup with a family-friendly cookie decorating class, inviting attendees to create festive, delicious treats led by renowned pastry chef Eric King.
For the second year in a row, Eater is partnering with World Central Kitchen for Eater Under Wraps. Vox Media will give 100% of the net proceeds of all tickets sold for private events, plus 10% of net proceeds from shop sales, at Eater Under Wraps in New York City from December 13 to December 14 to World Central Kitchen. WCK is a charity that provides fresh meals in response to humanitarian, climate, and community crises. To learn more, visit wck.org.
