Vox Media Partners with Viral Comedian Matt Buechele for New Series “That Sounds Like A Lot”

Launching on Friday, May 1, and produced with AND Media, Buechele will bring his signature monologues, humor, and music to weekly conversations about culture, politics, and modern life

Vox Media, the modern media company, and Another Normal Day (AND Media), the talent-first venture studio elevating the next generation of creators, will produce a brand new video podcast That Sounds Like A Lot, created and hosted by award-winning comedian, writer, and composer Matt Buechele. The premiere episode of this weekly series will launch on Friday, May 1 with an interview with comedian Zach Zimmerman. Upcoming episodes will feature Celine Song, Jay Jurden, Alexandria Love, Chloé Cooper Jones, and more.

Every Friday, viewers and listeners can tune in for one of Matt’s signature walk-and-talk monologues, unpacking the stories shaping culture, politics, and the increasingly strange rhythms of modern life. Each episode then expands into a funny, thoughtful conversation with a guest about what actually deserves attention, what’s wildly overhyped, and what we’re getting wrong. There might be music. There might be absurdity. There will always be laughs.

“I’m very excited to be partnering with Vox and AND Media on ‘That Sounds Like A Lot,’ ” said Buechele. “It’s amazing how much easier it is to be funny when you can do it sitting down in a chair instead of roaming the streets of New York.”

“Matt has the uncanny ability to notice and precisely describe the things that shape our lives every day,” said Lillian Xu, vice president of podcasts at Vox Media. “His sharp and specific takes have made him the voice so many turn to for processing everything from the crazy to the mundane. We’re excited to partner on this talk show where he can expand these takes and have real conversations with other funny, curious people.”

“Everything we do starts with a creator’s unique voice, and Matt already has a compelling way of engaging his audience around the topics they care most about,” said Christian Tom, CEO at AND Media. “This series is about giving Matt’s established voice more room to grow through longer-form storytelling, interviews, and new creative formats. Vox Media’s proven track record of building deeply engaged audiences and creating culturally resonant content across platforms make it the ideal partner for this series.”

At Vox Media, That Sounds Like A Lot will join one of the largest U.S. podcast publishers and a slate of influential series including Pivot (hosted by journalist Kara Swisher and entrepreneur Scott Galloway), Pretty Tough (hosted by Grand Slam champion Maria Sharapova), Waveform: The MKBHD Podcast (hosted by YouTuber and tech reviewer Marques Brownlee), Networth & Chill (hosted by Your Rich BFF Vivian Tu), Criminal (hosted by journalist Phoebe Judge), Tefi Talks (hosted by influential host, creator, and comedian Tefi Pessoa), The Downside with Gianmarco Soresi (hosted by comedian Gianmarco Soresi and actor Russell Daniels) and more.

That Sounds Like A Lot is a core piece of AND Media’s growing slate of programming. The company recently announced its spring lineup which includes the creation of the comedy series Human Trials led by Mark Normand, the relaunches of Kareem Rahma’s Keep The Meter Running and A.J. Daulerio’s The Small Bow Podcast as a video-first series, the expansion of Hunter Prosper’s Stories from a Stranger to YouTube, and a partnership with The Moment LIVE to grow its audience across platforms.

That Sounds Like A Lot is executive produced by Michael Grant Terry (SmartLess) and Rebecca Eisenberg of Port Royale (SmartLess), and Rob Holysz (Armchair Expert), Natalie Holysz, and Jeph Porter of Rabbit Grin Productions (The Lonely Island and Seth Meyers Podcast, Anna Faris Is Unqualified, and Flightless Bird).

That Sounds Like A Lot will be available on YouTube, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and wherever podcasts are available, with new episodes releasing every Friday.
