We are excited to announce that The Verge and Polygon have partnered with the Future of StoryTelling Festival,FoST Fest. This first-of-its-kind immersive storytelling festival will take place in New York City on October 7 to October 9 at the Africa Center on 1280 Fifth Ave. The festival showcases over 70 exhibits and includes panel discussions, immersive theatre pieces and more than 50 hands-on tech demos, virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) exhibits, interactive installations, 360-degree films and a multiperson VR theatre.
The Verge and Polygon will be hosting panels on Friday, Oct. 7 and Sunday, Oct. 9. The FoST Fest ticket will also give you access to an entire weekend of immersive storytelling experiences and free admission to any of the FoST Fest panels.
On Friday, October 7th, Polygon Editor-in-Chief Chris Grant will moderate a panel on "The Evolution of Play" with Dan Pincheck, Creative Director & Studio Head The Chinese Room, Sam Barlow, Executive Creative Director Interlude, and Lance Weiler of Digital Storytelling Lab at Columbia University. The discussion will focus on narrative-driven games and how storytellers can learn from gaming to craft immersive, participatory experiences.
On Sunday, October 9th The Verge’s Tom Connors will join a panel of industry experts including Jason Farkas, Vice President, Premium Content Video for CNN, Marcia Stepanek, Professor, Multimedia and Communications at Columbia University, Mehrshad Mansouri, Director of Business Development and Partnerships, Software and Services at GoPro, Jenna Pirog, VR Editor at the New York Times Magazine and Tim Pool, Founder of Subverse to discuss how news organizations are redefining journalism's emerging tools and technology in the newsroom. The panel will cover best practices and techniques for placing the audience at the center of news event.
