A Taste of Austin

Eater and SXSW SouthBites celebrated Austin’s food scene with the city’s most exciting chefs.

All: Vox Media's Robert Lerma

In between five days of panels and parties at SXSW Interactive, Vox Media, Eater, and SouthBites were thrilled to treat event attendees to some of the best examples of the Austin food scene. On Saturday, 3/12, we were joined by 500 hungry guests and three of the city's most exciting and essential chefs: Evan LeRoy of Freedmen's, Sam Hellman-Mass and Mark Buley of Odd Duck, and Takuya Matsumoto of Ramen Tatsu-Ya.

Handpicked by our food experts at Eater, these culinary masters served bites including bacon cheeseburger sausage with sweet spicy pickles and comeback sauce, sweet potato nachos with green chile mayo, corn nuts, and escabeche, and crispy noodles with broth and gyuukotsu dip.  The late-night gathering was a true expression of Austin's incomparable food scene.

If you missed us this year, you can still find yourself Eater-approved bites in Austin, throughout SXSW 2016, and of course throughout the country at Eater.com.
