New Appointments at Vox Media: Lindsay Nelson named first Chief Marketing Officer

Armando Turco joins to lead Vox Creative as first General Manager

Today, Vox Media is thrilled to announce that Lindsay Nelson has been named the company’s first Chief Marketing Officer and that Armando Turco will join as the first General Manager of Vox Creative, to lead the company’s branded content division. “Under Ms. Nelson, Vox Media has been one of the more aggressive digital publishers when it comes to producing and distributing content on behalf of paying marketers,” the Wall Street Journal announced this morning.

In this new role, Lindsay will expand upon what she does best: driving relevance, authority, and aggressive business growth for Vox Media and its growing portfolio of brands and businesses. She will oversee a new, robust marketing organization consisting of Brand Marketing; Portfolio Marketing (B2B); Revenue Operations; Concert; and Vox Creative.

Joining the new Marketing department is Vox Media’s Ryan Pauley, who is being promoted to a new leadership role as Vice President, Revenue Operations and General Manager of Concert, the company’s premium digital marketplace for video advertising and branded content distribution. Launched in 2016 in partnership with NBCUniversal, Concert reaches nearly 190 million people each month, including 88% of millennials (ages 18-34) online.

Over the past two years, under Lindsay’s leadership, Vox Media’s branded content division, Vox Creative, became the industry’s fastest growing studio of its kind, and the company opened several new, innovative business channels. Recently, Vox Media produced an Ad Age Best Branded Content Campaign of 2016; launched Meridian, a standalone travel brand developed in collaboration with an advertiser; forged a multi-year partnership with Infiniti, opening the first food and drink museum in the US (MOFAD); and took over CES through The Verge’s ground-breaking VR partnership with JetBlue and promotion of a 3-day Twitter event that attracted millions of viewers.

The exciting changes prime Vox Media for a big 2017, and we look forward to working with Lindsay, Armando, Ryan, and their teams to further push the boundaries of what’s possible in the new media space.
