Today we’re happy to introduce the latest project from Vox Media’s news network Vox: the Vox Video Lab, a new membership program on YouTube. The Lab will offer Vox’s audience on YouTube ways to be more engaged with Vox’s videos and creators.
For $4.99/month, the Vox Video Lab will offer members video extras including directors’ commentary, behind-the-scenes content, what-to-watch recommendations from Vox staff, access to chats and other ways to engage directly with Vox creators; and recognition as a member of Vox’s Video Lab. For $9.99/month, members will be included in the Vox Video Lab member advisory board, a way for Vox’s biggest fans to give feedback and go deeper into their editorial process, starting with monthly board meetings.
Vox Video Lab is launched with support from innovation funding from the Google News Initiative (GNI) to help newsrooms and partnerships strengthen their online video capabilities and experiment with new formats for video journalism. As YouTube announced today, Vox is one of 87 recipients selected from hundreds of organizations around the globe.
