Announced at Code Conference
Land of the Giants - a new podcast from Recode and the Vox Media Podcast Network
Today’s “information age” is predominantly powered by five major technology companies: Facebook, Apple, Amazon, Netflix, and Google – or “FAANG”. Each season of Land of the Giants, a new podcast from Recode and the Vox Media Podcast Network coming in July, we’ll dive into one corporation and examine the ways it’s changed our lives – for better and for worse.
First up: The Rise of Amazon, hosted by Recode’s Jason Del Rey. In less than two decades, Jeff Bezos scaled an online marketplace for books into the world’s most valuable company. But at what cost? From Alexa to Prime, we’ll examine how the retailing juggernaut has infiltrated our homes and changed the way we shop, work, and live. You can subscribe for free right now on Apple Podcasts, or in your favorite podcast app, to get the first episode automatically.
Open Sourced - a new partnership from Vox and Recode made possible by funding from The Omidyar Network
Also live from the Code stage, Vox Editor in Chief Lauren Williams and Recode Editor Samantha Oltman were thrilled to introduce a new project from Vox and Recode: Open Sourced. Open Sourced will be a multi-platform, explanatory journalism project, funded by the Omidyar Network, that illuminates the stakes of tech. It will launch on Vox.com and on Vox’s YouTube channel, with editorial content from Recode and Vox reporters, on Vox’s YouTube channel, and across Vox and Recode’s marquee podcasts beginning in October 2019.
