Polygon and TCL team up to bring exclusive programming to life during San Diego Comic-Con 2019

Programming will take place Friday, July 19th with a series of live interviews and an evening party

For the first time in Vox Media’s history, Polygon and TCL are teaming up to host on the ground programming during pop culture’s biggest fan event, San Diego Comic-Con 2019. Programming will take place Friday, July 19th inside TCL Chinese Theatre at the Theatre Box in San Diego’s famed Gaslamp Quarter, just minutes away from the convention center and the epicenter of Comic-Con.

Polygon’s programming begins Friday afternoon with a series of special-guest interviews in front of a live audience. Session talent, descriptions, and RSVP information will be announced in the coming days.

“Fans of comics, TV, film, comics, and fandom at large descend on San Diego each year to form a deeper bond with the storytelling they love,” said Polygon’s Senior Entertainment Editor Matt Patches. “But as the traditional comic convention panel grows to the size of an arena concert, it’s obvious there’s room to put the artists on a taller pedestal and engage audiences with a more meaningful experience. Our space at the TCL Chinese Theatre allows fans to break from that noise, and have a closer conversation with creators and other fans.”

After a full day of programming, Polygon and TCL will host the Multiplayer Party on the rooftop of the Theatre Box.

RSVPs are now open for the rooftop party. Secure your spot for the party and stay on top of programming updates.

In addition to music, drinks, and food, party-goers will be able to play games from Polygon’s Essential list of party games with the Polygon editorial team, including Senior Entertainment Editor, Matt Patches; Comics Editor, Susana Polo; Managing Editor, Chelsea Stark; and Senior Video Producer, Simone de Rochefort. The Multiplayer Party will also be co-hosted by, actor and maker of things, Janina Gavankar. Janina is playing a lead role in the upcoming Warner Bros. film, Torrance, and is also known for playing Iden Versio in EA’s Star Wars: Battlefront II.

“TCL is thrilled to partner with Polygon to deliver a unique experience for Comic-Con attendees this year. We recently brought the legendary Hollywood movie palace - TCL Chinese Theatre, with its rich, 90-year history - to San Diego and we’re excited to host our first Comic-Con events here. The luxury cinema is housed within the new Theatre Box in the famous Gaslamp Quarter and features wall-to-wall TCL Roku TVs,” said Tom Heffernan, Vice President of Marketing, TCL. “Known for providing fans with the latest news on gaming and entertainment, Polygon is the perfect partner for us as our award-winning TCL TVs bring cutting-edge gaming and entertainment experiences into homes nationwide.”
