This Old House Ventures Becomes Latest Video-first Publisher to Join Vox Media’s Chorus

This Old House and Ask This Old House, mainstays of public television, are top two-rated home improvement shows in all of TV

This Old House, the number one multi-platform home enthusiast media brand serving more than 15 million consumers each month with trusted information and expert advice, will join Chorus in the coming months.

“We’re thrilled at any chance to bring a strong media brand onto the Chorus platform but This Old House is unique,” said Trei Brundrett, Chief Operating Officer at Vox Media. “For the past 40 years, the brand has built a loyal and engaged fan base. That requires a level of passion and dedication that we share here at Vox Media, and that we have demonstrated with the growth of our own editorial networks on Chorus.”

This Old House began chronicling home renovations in 1979, and was one of the first such shows to air on national television. Earlier this month, This Old House filmed its 40th anniversary special, which will air starting August 17.

“We are excited to partner with Vox Media and move ThisOldHouse.com to the Chorus platform,” said Evan Silverman, Chief Operating Officer of This Old House Ventures, LLC. “As we celebrate the 40th anniversary of This Old House, we believe it’s a great time to unite our venerable brand with the powerful digital team and platform at Vox Media.”

This Old House joins a broad range of media companies that have joined Chorus since the platform was opened to publishers to license one year ago, including digital savvy news organizations with rich journalism traditions such as the Chicago Sun-Times and Deseret News, entertainment brands such as Funny or Die and other modern media brands, including The Ringer.

This Old House will re-launch on Chorus later this year, where it will continue to scale its brand to new audiences with a new look and feel, and will transition to Concert, Vox Media’s premium ad marketplace, opening up the media brand to opportunities for building a sustainable digital business.

Concert launched in 2016 and has grown to a powerful coalition of over 25 publishers including Quartz, New York Magazine and Rolling Stone. Across Concert, Chorus and Coral -- an open source SaaS platform dedicated to building safer online engagement and communities for publishers -- Vox Media works directly with over 150 publishers in 13 countries.
