After cutting partnership deals with The Ringer and Funny or Die, Vox Media hopes to sell publishing technology to publishers of all sizes

The digital media company has launched a new branded content division that will create its signature wonky videos for advertisers.

The internet iconoclast has signed a deal to move his sports and culture website, the Ringer, off Medium and onto Vox Media’s platform. While Mr. Simmons will maintain ownership of the site he launched last summer, the Ringer will become part of the portfolio of brands Vox offers to marketers alongside its own properties like SB Nation, the Verge and Eater.

The company has named Lindsay Nelson, who had overseen Vox Media’s branded content business, as its first chief marketing officer.

Vox Media on Tuesday launched Meridian, a new standalone digital content brand that is fully funded by an advertiser.

The ad marketplace, or “ad exchange,” will allow marketers to buy ad space across properties owned by 25 media companies, including Vox Media.

Starting this week, NBCU will run Vox’ Medias custom ad products on its digital properties, and both companies’ sales teams will start selling packages to marketers that include these ads.
